The science-profile course of the 11th grade at the Eider-Treene-school in Tönning has dealt intensively with nanotechnology this year. In addition to a visit to the nanotechnology student lab "klick!" in the Kieler Forschungswerkstatt, towards the end of the school year the preparation of an exhibition was on the program.

This week, two student-curated exhibitions were finalized in Kiel and Rendsburg. Both exhibitions are the final presentation of a newly developed module on Oceanography: Plastic – bane of the ocean within the EU project IRRESISTIBLE.

Just visiting the IKEA website to gather up some material for our current project - an exhibition as part of the 350-year anniversary of the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel - I have found something interesting: a large shelf from the Kallax series with 5x5 compartments!

To give a name and a recognizable identity to the modular system for student-curated exhibitions - and hence the project - the term EXPOneer was coined.

The idea of EXPOneer arose in Kiel, it was born in Kiel with the first small exhibition at the Kieler Woche 2013 and it grew up with the two pilot projects in Heikendorf and Eckernförde in the hinterland of Kiel. Up to now, the idea isn’t grown-up, but now it is time to move; to move in order to discover the world. And this important day for EXPOneer is today, Monday, June 30.
